Drinktec 2022, the main news from the Munich trade fair

After the forced break due to the pandemic, the entire beverage world has come together again. The occasion? DRINKTEC, the world’s most important trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry.

Held in Munich from 12 to 16 September, the fair was attended by many international exhibitors (65%) and thousands of visitors from outside Germany (over 70%).

A.E.B. talks about the innovations at Drinktec 2022

As at every edition, A.E.B. srl has chosen to be present as a visitor, rather than as an exhibitor. For us at A.E.B. KEGS, this is the perfect opportunity to visit our suppliers, to see what’s new in the sector (both in terms of technology and trends), to have a targeted discussion with a large number of operators, and to arrange B2B meetings with potential customers.

From these meetings, a great deal of news emerged regarding the advancement of new technologies, which move in the direction of energy saving and eco-sustainability. Applied to traditional production, these technologies allow controlled use of water and energy and encourage recycling.

Above all, we have found that an increasing number of brewers, especially in the craft beer segment, are seeking to switch from the use of PET kegs to stainless steel KEGs, with a view to reducing the incidence of packaging costs per litre of beverage. And, above all, heading towards green and eco-sustainability. A trend, that we are very proud of.

In fact, A.E.B. SRL, with its range of 100% stainless steel and steel/rubber KEGs, allows beverage producers (beer, wine, soft drink, coffee) to use a container that is practical, safe, durable, infinitely reusable and at the right price/quality ratio.

An increasingly green and technological world

After all, this has always been Drinktec’s aim: to innovate in order to meet the needs of the market, both from an economic and production point of view and with a view to an increasingly sustainable production system.

Therefore, the main new developments of DRINKTEC concern the reduction of water consumption (which, in the beverage production sector, is the main raw material).

Manufacturers wishing to optimise water use and consumption can now choose from a variety of solutions. New software makes it possible to record water consumption in real-time at the measuring stations of production systems and to evaluate it 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This makes consumption peaks transparent in addition to being analysed with great precision.

For production managers and their teams, it means being able to set realistic sustainability targets for water consumption in beverage production. In addition, full cost transparency helps to improve the profitability of the company.

Wastewater treatment systems that integrate recirculation concepts according to water quality and purpose, on the other hand, offer a comprehensive approach with a state-of-the-art circulation system. The treatments involved in water recycling in the beverage and liquid food industry are well known: biological, biophysical and membrane processes form the building blocks used for organic residues, sludge, microorganisms and non-biodegradable substances.

Finally, practical solutions are being developed for targeted tasks, such as the cleaning of KEGS used for beverage storage. Highly sensitive sensors recognise how dirty the containers are, and thus calculate the duration of the necessary cleaning operations.

This is why DRINKTEC, for A.E.B. SRL, represents a very important pool of information, both for the production of increasingly sustainable KEGS and a better understanding of trends and market innovations worldwide.

See you in 2025!
